ibi visited the historic Old North Church where Paul Revere shone lanterns from its steeple on April 18, 1775, lighting the way for the American Revolution. Exploring over 300 years of history at Boston's oldest church building.

Facts about this location:

1. The two lanterns hung for less than a minute, just long enough to signal Patriots in Charlestown that the British troops were advancing "by sea."
2. Paul Revere was an active member of the church's bell-ringing guild as a young man. The church's bell tower holds bells cast in England in 1744.
3. The crypt beneath the sanctuary holds the remains of more than 1,000 people, including Major John Pitcairn, a British commander mortally wounded at the Battle of Bunker Hill.
